Booking routine and Non-urgent calls

If your animal is ill, please ring as soon after 8.30 am as possible so that a visit can be included in the vet's daily calls. Please give a brief description of the problem, an address where the animal is kept and your address and a phone number where you can be reached before the vet arrives. It is also helpful for contuity if you can tell us if a vet has recently seen your animal. If you want the vet to look at other animals during the same visit please mention this when booking the call. This helps us plan the vets' visits, allowing adequate time and avoids unnecessary delays to other clients. As it is impossible to give an accurate time for a visit, our normal procedure is to 'phone you with an estimated time about thirty minutes to an hour before the vet is due to arrive. We have found that this system works well, particularly when animals are kept some distance from the house. The phone lines can be very busy first thing in the morning so it is very helpful if you can ring after 10 am when arranging non-urgent calls such as routine vaccinations or vetting for purchase examinations. We operate a reduced fee visit scheme for visits booked at least 2 days in advance – if you don’t mind which vet you see this is a great way of saving money The key to us being able to offer these reduced fees is client flexibility so therefore the reduced visit does not apply to every situation. For example vettings, visits where the vet has to attend at a specific time period, emergencies, visits requiring a specific vet, out of hours visits or visits booked less than 2 days in advance are all excluded.

Emergency calls

Out of office hours the telephone lines are switched to an answer phone service giving the phone number of the member of night or weekend staff on duty. There is always a vet on duty and the night staff will be able to arrange a veterinary visit or advice. When contacting us "out of hours", it helps enormously if you can give a concise description of the problem, clear directions of where to find the patient and to give a telephone number where you can be contacted in case of difficulty.

Fees & Payments

All fees, diets and drug charges are subject to VAT at the current rate. Fee levels are determined by expertise, time spent on a case, procedures, drugs, materials, consumables, diets etc. We provide a detailed invoice for every transaction that is made. Payment is due within 7 days of invoice unless previously arranged. We can provide a written estimate as to the probable costs of a course of treatment. Please bear in mind that any estimate given can only be approximate – often an animal’s illness will not follow a conventional course. We accept payment by cash, cheque supported with a current guarantee card or credit or debit card. Please note we do not accept American Express or Diners Club.
